Monday 22nd November
  • 01:30 Stable beams #1506

Sunday 21st November
  • Fill 1504 dumped by OP at 06.00 (produced 0.35 ub-1 in 7 hours)
  • Refilling disturbed by missing bunches in SPS
  • Uncertainties on BCT measurements, but lower than before
  • Stable beam from 11.00, fill 1505, lumi 1e25
  • Fill 1505 dumped by OP at 13:00 (produced 0.07 ub-1 in 2 hours)
  • 14:30-15:30 Problem in reinjecting beam 2. Large tune trim due to wrong tune feedback reference.
  • 15:30-21:00 Transverse feedback setting-up with ions.
  • Delays in getting to stable beams because of problems in the PS (main power supply and RF)

Saturday 20th November
  • 01.30 50ns beam (Beam 2 only)dumped at 3.5 TeV
  • Access for Beam Dump
  • Injection trains of 24+24 with 50ns spacing. 444 bunches in beam 1
  • 08.00 Stop proton operation. Switch back to ions.
  • 10.00 Beam 1 ions circulating. Beam 2 circulating
  • 10:30 - : PS RF problem (80 MHz cavity. No beam for 1 hour
  • RF capture optimisation from 11.30 to 13.00
  • Test ramp, squeeze, collide, 2 on 2, also for lumi scan qualification
  • Filling for physics from 17.00, interrupted by SPS/PS RF problems
  • Successful filling from 21.00, missing one bunch last injection B2
  • Stable beams at 23.00, fill 1504, lumi 2e25

Friday 19th November
  • 02:30 680 bunches on Beam 1 at 450 GeV with 75 ns spacing (8+14*48) - 1.1x1011 p/bunch - batch spacing=1.85 microseconds
  • 05:40 824 bunches of Beam1 at 450 GeV with 75 ns spacing  1.1x1011 p/bunch - batch spacing=1.05 microseconds
  • 08:30 - Switch to protons 50 ns spacing
  • Setting up of 12, 24 and 24+24 bunch injection
  • IP6 BPM test OK with 108 bunches
  • Test ramp with single nominal bunches. Full set of loss maps done.
  • Set up for 'repeat' of fill 1459, night of Oct 30/31, 1+12*9 bunches of 1.1e11. Lost at 3.5 TeV because of trip of power converter (RQTD.A12B1)
  • 22:30 Issues with MKD B1 ==> go with ramp with beam 2 only
  • Ramp with 1+12*9 bunches of 1.1e11 (Beam 2 only) for cryo and vacuum measurements

Thursday 18th November
  • 06:00 - 10:30 Injection checks/SPS beam quality verification/Abort gap cleaning checks.
  • 10:30 Start filling with an eye on vacuum and cryogenics
  • 15:45 680 bunches/beam at 450 GeV with 75 ns spacing (8+14*48) -  0.9x1011 p/bunch
  •  Kept this beam for 2 hours for UFO investigations
  • 18:00 Beam dumped by OP
  • 18:30-22:00 Damper setting-up
  • Problem with capture of Beam 2 with 75 ns beam of 1.2x1011 p/bunch. Go for injection of beam 1 only.

Wednesday 17th November
  • 00:30 Stable Beams #1496
  • 06:15 Dumped by operation (~0.3 ub-1 in ~6 h)
  • 06:00 Start proton MD

    09:30 Pilot injection: LHC-SPS Re-synchronization problem

    09:30-10:30 No beam form CPS (RF problem)

    12:00 LHC-SPS Re-synchronization problem fixed. In the mean time test 75 ns beam in the SPS

    14:00 Beam Presence flag test done

    14:30-15:00 Phase loop gain adjustment

    15:00-16:30 PS Access (in the mean time first set of loss maps)

    16:30-22:00 Issues with RF capture of single bunch with nominal intensity.

    22:00-23:00 Setting-up of single bunch injection

    23:00-06:00 Transfer line and injection setting-up with 75 ns

Tuesday 16th November
  • Fill 1494, large emittances, stable beams from 02.30
  • Dumped by operations at 09.00 (~ 0.25 ub-1 in ~6.5 h)
  • Fill 1495 dumped by RF dump (cavity quench)
  • 14:00 17:30 Access for flooding alarm in point 4 (access for BI in the shadow)
  • 18:30 Power converter (RQT13.L2B2) problem during pre-cycle. Access
  • 20:00 Pre-cycling
  • 21:30 Injection

  • 00h30: Beam dump.
  • 01h30: Injection. 121b x 121b.
  • 07h42: Stable beams. Fill #1492. Reach 2.5e25 cm-2 s-1
  • Fill lost at 08.45 due to electrical network instability
  • Refill with same configuration
  • Stable beam at 12.50, Fill 1493, luminosities 2.8e25cm-2s-1
  • 22:00 End of fill 1493 (Programmed dump: >0.45 ub-1 in ~9 h)
