  • Capture problems for Beam 1 (finally traced with noise on the voltage on Cavity 4B1)

  • Beams lost at 11.00 with a fast loss when moving Roman pots

  • Fill lost at start ramp - TCDQ control problem (didn't move)
  • Mods made to sequencer - experts need to look at this
  • Fill 1372 in the evening, 104b scheme
  • Stable beams from 19.30. Initial luminosity 3.5 1031
  • Colliding beams overnight

  • Integrated lumi ~650 nb-1 in ~ 13h
  • EOF studies:
  • Extended lumi scans for emittance checks
  • Wire scans provoked beam dump around 10.00
  • ALICE polarity switch (dipole and solenoid)
  • Test ramp and squeeze
  • 21:50 MCBXH3.L8 trip ==> beams lost at the end of the squeeze.
  •  22:30 - 04:00 Access for quench heater power supply repair and WorldFip replacement

  • ALICE have a problem with parasitic collisions polarity mismatch between dipole and external Xing bumps

  • 05.00 - 08.00 Loss map off momentum (negative) before squeeze with 100/110 urad crossing angle

Final qualification tests certified OK by relevant experts

  • 09:00 - 12:49 Verification of the interlocked BPM and preparation for stable beams with 24 on 24 bunches
  • 12:49 Fast loss in 8L7. Go for another ramp
  • 17:04 Stable beams 24x24 - 4.6x1030 cm-2 s-1 initial luminosity

Tuesday 21st September
  • 01:00 - 04:00 Asynch dump test: End of squeeze - beams lost before test .. spikes on QTF
  • 04.00 - 09:00 Preparation for TOTEM alignment and loss map (ramp squeeze collision with 1 nominal bunch per beam).
  • 0900 - 16:00 TOTEM beam based alignment and loss map with TOTEM at 20(H)/18(V) sigma
  • 16:00 - 21:00 BPM sensitivity switching tests, tests of the functions for collimators
  • 21:00 - 01:00 pilot run through ramp and squeeze with nominal bunch intensity + beta beating measurements and k-modulation for IP8 + loss map off momentum (positive) at the end of squeeze separated. BPM sensitivity switching test when overinjecting.
