About the LHC injection dry-run foreseen/discussed for week 50, this is what AB-BI propose to include:

 

1)      BPMI:

All of TI8 including the monitors between the TI8 TED and the injection region.

We could here prepare the logging and fixed-displays for the entire line and check that YASP gets all monitors as expected in the layout.

2)      BPM LHC:

All BPMs for beam#2 in sectors 8R, 7-8 and 7R up to the BPM 8R7

The involved BPMLHC CMW devices to handle by the BPM concentrator would be:

For the devices above we can provide the BeamThreading (auto-trigger mode) with non-null position values and it would also be interesting to add the capture data where the setting of bunches and turns through the concentrator should be included.

 

For the BPM LHC devices it would also be very interesting to add to the LHC sequencer the control of the sensitivity switch (low/high) on the two WorldFIP master systems in SR8 and SR7 linked to a given beam. We will not be able to install any BPM intensity modules.

A quick update for the LHC injection dry-run foreseen next week. I have prepared the BPMLHC devices for beam#2 in SR8 so that the "BeamThreading" and "GetCapData" properties return something useful.

This should now be the case with a few hardware issues that I'm trying to sort out with my colleagues. I propose that we leave out the closed-orbit data for the time being as that will only make it more difficult to understand what's going on.

You can now use the properties just mentioned on these devices:

where the capture bunches, Turns and general sensitivity flag can be selected through the Setting property. I'm expected the two BPMLHC devices in SR7 to become available either tomorrow or Monday next week.

 

3)      BTVs in TI8 down + injection:

You will be able to move screens, filters and acquisition including the video transmission to the CCC (Guy Crockford will just have to prepare the configuration).

 

4)      BLMI (transfer-line loss monitors)

There are a few monitors at the end of TI8 and in the injection region that have not yet been included in logging and fixed-displays that we could add for the tests.

 

5)      BLM LHC:

As you know there are still ongoing discussions concerning the acquisition mode to be used for losses at a time given by an LHC timing event. Depending on when we get the exact requirements, we may or may not be able to provide for week#50, the FPGA firmware needed to do this. The VME acquisition systems in SR8 are all installed while the one for 7R is pending but should in principle be ok.

The CMW devices for BLMLHC would be:

that would have to be dealt with from the concentrator for the (new) acquisition mode in question.
