The LHCb experiment uses a spectrometer magnet which is positioned approximately 5 m from the IP towards IP1, it is 1.92 m long and the integrated filed at 7 TeV is 4.2 Tm in the vertical direction. The magnet is warm and is ramped proportional to the beam energy.
Following the conventations here
- Positive output of the power converter connected to the 'B terminal' of the LHCb magnet
- LHCb magnet will produce field direction downwards
- and thus a positive kick i.e. outwards
- as required for negative crossing angle i.e. "-" bump
