  • 02:55 ATLAS toroid back up to nominal current
  • 05:27 Beam dump, lost to electrical perturbation visible on several power converters. FMCM triggered first for RD1.LR5. 144 pb-1 in 11 hours 51 minutes of stable beams
  • 06:16 filling again
  • 06:53 Thunderstorm. All sectors apart from sector 12 trip.
  • Access for QPS.
  • 10:30 Problem with LBDS B2. PLC lost communication to some HW (kickers). Access.
  • 15:00 Filling.
  • 17:00 Beam lost at end of squeeze, large losses on B2.
  • Refill...
  • 19:40 Stable beams fill 2819 Initial luminosity 5.8 e33 cm-2s-1
  • 20:50 Beam dumped, RF B2 due to cryo problem R4. Integrated 22 pb-1.

  • 00:50 Both IR1 and IR5 optimized.
  • 02:20 TCTs are aligned, start of RP alignment.
  • 05:00 Beams dumped on wrong manipulation with RP of TOTEM, dump on IR5 BLMs.
  • Refill for 90 m.
  • 08:30 Back in collisions at 90 m.
  • 08:45 ATLAS magnets ramp down.
  • 10:00 Start RP/collimator setup.
  • 13:10 loss maps
  • 14:10 Access for ATLAS (CMS in as well)
  • 16:00 Injecting for physics

Friday 6 July
  • 02:20 Injecting again
  • 03:30 Stable beams fill 2812
  • 03:55 RB.A45 tripped QPS current loop is open and seems that the current (normally 50 mA) is 0.
  • 09:10 QPS problem fixed by piquet
  • pre-cycle
  • 12:00 Filling 3 bunches for 90 m setup.
  • 14:00 Beams were colliding immediately, but unfortunately the colliding bunches became unstable and were lost (again B2). Finished some measurements with the remaining bunches.
  • 15:00 Ramp down.
  • 16:00 Access for ATLAS safety system - sniffer problem. Water leak in US15, some crates under water (eg vacuum).
  • 21:30 End of access. Precycle.
  • 22:45 Prepare for injection, fill 2814.

Thursday 5 July
  • 02:00 One of the 2 warm cryo compressors of Pt2 stopped (oil leak).
  • 09:00 Cryo intervention in Pt2 (compressor) during stable beams.
  • 10:15 Beam dumped QPS on Q5.L1, integrated L 143 pb-1.
  • Access for ALICE, Cryo, ADT
  • 15:00 Filling, 1.5E11 ppb.
  • 16:10 Beam lost when going into collisions - again! Selected B2 bunches lost.
  • 17:00 Injecting probes for test ramp & squeeze for chromaticity measurement
  • 19:05 injecting for physics – slightly reduced bunch currents
  • 21:10 Stable beams Fill 2810
  • 21:15 Beams lost just after going into stable beams Lost sector 12 – thunderstorm some time before we could close the switches for the RB.A12 Precycle
  • Midnight – injection again
  • 01:30 Beam lost going into collisions (fill 2811) Bit different this time Losses in IP7 a few seconds from the end of the collision BP

Wednesday 4 July
  • 06:00 Beam dumped by OP,  integrated L 70 pb-1.
  • Moving on to 1380 bunches, lower intensity.
  • Losses starting on some bunches of B2 during the squeeze, holes in some batches, corresponding B1 bunches blown-up in H.
  • 09:30 Stable beams fill 2806, 1874b, 4.6E33 cm-2s-1.
  • TCL scans by the collimation team while Fabiola is speaking...
  • 18:40 Beam dumped by OP,  integrated L 103 pb-1.
  • Injection, B1 (6b) dumped twice on TDI, SPS RF not locked to LHC RF.
  • 00:10 Stable beams fill 2807, 1874b, 6.2E33 cm-2s-1.

Tuesday 3 July
  • 00:53 lose 2799 in the squeeze trip of RQ7.L7B1 – QPS trigger
  • 02:00 Back around at injection 03:38 Fill 2800 - beam dumped by high losses on Q4.L6 on RS 5.2s after 1 minute into the collisions BP. Tune signal for beam 1 show instabilities in H
  • 05:30 Access start for Atlas turbine – Torroid rack
  • 07:10 Atlas finished
  • 08:10 Lost test ramp to un-masked interlocks.
  • 09:30 New test cycle for Q' measurements.
  • 11:30 Test beam dumped by too large RF frequency trim.
  • 13:00 Injecting for physics.
  • 14:30 Beam dumped when going into collisions with 852b, losses on B2.
  • 16:00 New attempt with 852b with lower intensity
  • 17:45 Beam dumped once more when going into collisions with 852b, losses on B2.
