Mon 19th September

  • 01:44 – Stable beams. Fill #2124.

8:30 meeting

Sun 18th September

  • 08:30 – Cryo conditions recovered
  • Pre-cycle.
  • 10:00 – 11:00 Trip of RF module 2 B2 due to trip of a ion pump (twice) + no 50 ns beam from PS due to RF problem.
  • 13:00 – 15:15 Access in point 4 for replacement of ion pump power supply and World FIP repeater power supply (affecting cryogenics)
  • 16:32 – Injection. Large injection oscillations again for beam 1.
  • 17:33 – Ion vacuum pump tripped again. RF module M2B2 as well as a consequence.
  • Ion pump found OK by vacuum specialists. Access from vacuum controls to search for cable/connector/rack issue. Found broken HV link à Fixed.
  • 22:00 – Start recovery

9:00 meeting

Sat 17th September

  • 03:28 – Beam dump due to temperature interlock on collimator TCP.B6.B1. Collected 75 pb-1 in 8h50.
  • 04:55 – Injection
  • 06:31 – Ramp
  • 06:57 – Beam dump at flat top. Lost cryo in point 4 (PLC fault and FIP problem). Stopped cold compressor.

9:00 meeting

Fri 16th September

  • 02:15 trip of Sector 78 – due to sudden jump of U_MAG signal on nQPS DQAMGS.RB.A78.B9L8 (SEU?). End of physics #2110. 57 pb-1 in 6.5 h.
  • 04:02 second trip of Sector 78 during pre-cycle ==> power-cycle DQAMGS.RB.A78.B9L8
  • 06:00 – Ongoing injection problems on beam 2
  • 07:42 – Start of injection investigations
  • 11:11 – Injection problem fixed. Resteering of transfer line. Change due to perturbations from ion cycle?
  • 11:42 – Start of checks for injection collimators
  • 12:09 – Switching polarity of LHCb dipole and compensators
  • 14:45 – 30min stop of beam from injectors due to restoring of second control system for SPS compensators
  • 16:41 – End of checks for injection collimators
  • 16:58 – Injection for physics. Losses fine now.
  • 17:54 – Start of ramp
  • 18:13 – Start of squeeze
  • 18:38 – Stable beams. Fill #2117.

Network issues on 15/9 (P. Charrue)

Thu 15th September

  • 01:09 Controls network problem affecting PS/SPS/LHC
  • 09:30  Controls network problem fixed
  • 10:00 Precycle and prepare for injection
  • 11:30-13:00 LSS6 BPM interlock after modification of the BPM control card (aimed at fixing a long lasting problem on a bunch counting)
  • 13:00-14:00 Poor beam quality from the injectors due to a controls problem on a quadrupole of the PS to SPS transfer line
  • 14:00 - 15:00 Re-steering of the TI2/TI8 injection lines.
  • Beta* limits on new TCT functions (before physics) implemented
  • 16:30 finally machine full. Ramping with ~1.38x1011 p/bunch.
  • 16:55 trip of RQTF.A34B2 during the squeeze to 1.5 m ==> beam dump.
  • 19:56 STABLE BEAMS #2110. Initial luminosity >3.3x1033 cm-2s-1. 1.39x1011 p/bunch. >107 MJ at flat-top.

Wed 14th September

  • 02:39 STABLE BEAMS #2105. Initial luminosity >3.2x1033 cm-2s-1 in both high luminosity experiments. 1.36x1011 p/bunch.
  • 19:10 Operator dump. End of physics #2105: ~117 pb-1 in 16.5 hours
  • 19h47: RQT12.R1B1 tripped during rampdown.
  • 20h16: Access for QPS & ALICE
  • 24:00 End of QPS access for RB.A1 and RQT12.R1B1

Tue 13th September

  • 00:56 STABLE BEAMS #2103. Initial Luminosity >3.1x1033 cm-2 s-1 on both high luminosity experiments (1.31x1011 p/bunch)
  • 09:08 Lost patrol in point 4. Beams dumped. End of fill #2103. ~70 pb-1 in 8 hours. Doors that caused the loss of patrol was not well closed!
  • 11:30 End of patrol in point 4. In the shadow access to ALICE and ATLAS.
  • 12:30-14:30 TDI controls problem
  • 14:30-16:00: Damage to 18 kV cable (between BA2 and Meyrin) during the work for the replacement of the SPS 18 kV cables ==> Electrical network re-configuration. Wait at injection with pilot bunch during intervention. ATLAS detector switched off for precaution.
  • 17:45 STABLE BEAMS #2104. Initial Luminosity >3.1x1033 cm-2 s-1 on both high luminosity experiments (1.31x1011 p/bunch)
  • 21:05 Lost of Cryo Maintain in matching Section R5. Wrong temperature reading on the current lead of RQ6.R5 (SEU). ~32 pb-1 in 3.3 h
  • 23:30-01:00 No beam from SPS (RF low level problem)

Mon 12th September

  • 04:00 Cryo S12 recovered.
  • Precyle, prepare for injection.
  • 09:00-11:00 Injection checks
  • 13:15 STABLE BEAMS #2101. Initial Luminosity >3x1033 cm-2 s-1 on both high luminosity experiments (1.31x1011 p/bunch)
  • 16:39 Beam dump: bad reading on cryogenics current lead temperature sensor in Sector 56 (RB.A56) - possible SEU. End of Fill #2101. 32 pb-1 in 3 hours.
  • 20:00-23:00 collimator control problem (possible SEU)
